Barnsley Trading Standards seize 2000 illegal cigarettes after uncovering a tanning studio's lucrative sideline.
Barnsley Trading Standards raided a city-centre tanning studio following reports that it was making extra cash through selling illegal tobacco to its customers.
The trading standards service seized 2,000 illegal cigarettes, which they believe were going to be sold under-the-counter to regulars - including kids under 18.
Further enquiries by the service revealed that the trader had been operating a lucrative sideline in selling illegal tobacco and uncovered evidence which showed that, over an 8-month period, the trader had sold 50,000 cigarettes from the premises of the tanning studio.
