Flooding the streets with a deadly product

I have just read about the recent case of a North East man put
behind bars for 'flooding the streets of South Tyneside' with
illegal cigarettes. The man at the centre of the story was involved
in an organised chain of criminal activity in which he provided
storage for over 300,000 cigarettes and almost 90 kilos of hand
rolling tobacco. He was jailed for 15 months.
The length of the sentence will hopefully serve as a deterrent
to him and to others who may be tempted to become involved in
similar activities. Tobacco, whether it is sold legally or
illegally, will kill half of its long-term users. Flooding
the streets of South Tyneside with a deadly product that could then
be sold cheaply and without restriction to our young people, is a
crime that needs to be stamped out.
